Blue Garden by Un.Real
Based in Isabela, Puerto Rico & Influenced by seminal artists such as My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, The Cure & Ride ‘Un.Real’ (Pronounced in Spanish) became the first shoegaze band in Puerto Rico. Conceived after the death of MTV’s ‘Alt. Nation’ the band started with their first show at the now legendary Longbranch Pub back in 1995. It has continued over the years as a medium for Perez & company to create unrestricted music. Their sound is firmly rooted within the shoegaze stable with subtle hints of blissful dream-pop thrown into the mix for good measure. With a plethora of releases under their belts 'Blue Garden' is the bands first single release since 2015's 'Kids Are Astronauts / Drones' with both singles lifted off their forthcoming full length album 'Islands' penned in for release sometime this summer. 'Carpal Tunnel' drives into the ether lashed tightly to a busy percussive attack and straddled by throbbing bass lines & hazy production. Its guitar progressions swirl and arc throughout the piece, whipping up a sonic frenzy, sending out layer after layer of delicious reverb that collectively circumnavigates those impressive vocalisations. If this is a prelude to the full release we're definitely in for something rather special.

Londoners 'Divisionists' have unleashed a brand new single entitled 'Dream Landscape' lifted from their forthcoming full length debut album 'Daybreak' penned in for release on March 17th 2017 via the London based Mount Watatic Records. This latest single comes hot on the heels of the brilliant 'Say You Can', the albums lead track which garnered serious support worldwide in both radio & press circles and it also follows on from the bands debut four track EP 'we play rock music ...' released back in 2011. With a sound that skips brilliantly through harmonic psych & power-pop, is sometimes underscored by patchy alternative rock rudiments and stops off for the occasional psych-folk singalong, 'Divisionsits' have a lot going on sonically.

'Dream Landscape' swirls into the ether on resonating guitar frequencies that rise and fall blissfully through beautifully astute progressions laced in glorious reverberation. Cascading bass lines straddle steadying percussion as undulating lead licks whip and harass the entire piece into submission allowing those stunning vocalisations to hold court thus stirring up audible manifestations of those 60's psych-pop pioneers 'The Byrds, The Beatles, The Velvet Underground & Crazy Horse'. 'Dream Landscape' is a truly magnificent track and this in turn only bodes well for the full album release.
Something Like Eternity by The History Of Colour TV
Berlin based experimental/alt-shoegaze outfit 'The History of Colour TV' have unleashed a moody, introspective second single entitled 'As Grey As Park Can Be' lifted off their forthcoming (March 17th) third full length album 'Something Like Eternity'. The band was founded in 2010 and is made up of Jaike Stambach, Markus Mocydlarz & Janek Sprachta. Collectively they have skipped through a plethora of different musical styles over the course of their previous releases from their electronic leanings on their debut full length 'Emerald Cures Chic Ills' through to the brilliant sometimes heavy, sometimes stripped back/ambient stylings of 'Shapes of Spilt Blood Spelt Love' and on into this new album and it's emotive sweeping soundscapes.

'Munchausen' opens up swirling deftly in a flurry of dream pop inspired vocal tones and sequenced percussive patterns as it's noisy guitars are toned back to a sullen hook laden growl. The track floats effortlessly along its predestined route but there's an undercurrent of dark malice lingering around those beautiful vocal tones that interests me the most! It's not long before the track shakes loose it's dream pop hue and explodes into a maelstrom of thunderous drums, throbbing bass frequencies and angry reverberating guitar noise thus underling just how good 'Tall Pines' actually are.
